What is puppywalking?
A puppywalking of a puppy of a guide dog is the social raising of a puppy in the family of the volunteer coworkers. It starts at the age of 2 months and continues to the age of 1 year of the puppy.
What do we expect?
The aim of the training curriculum is to transform a little dewy puppy into a problem-free city dog, for which a man is its best friend.

A dog who is being raised:
- Must be raised inside a house, not in a doghouse outside on the lawn or in a fenced area.
- Must be in constant contact with people all day. A small pup cannot stay home by itself for a long time. The maximum time alone is 2-3 hours.
- Must be taught good hygiene practices.
- Must steadily get used all different kinds of transportation and city distractions.
- Must know how to travel on all different means of transport.
- Must learn how to visit public places, for instance: offices, shopping centers, restaurants, etc.
- Must gain as many social contacts with people as possible (even with kids under the supervision of adults), with other dogs that are mentally healthy and if possible, with other animals.
- Must learn very well how to listen to orders and to in a playful form retrieve objects (even metals).
- Must regularly take part in puppy meetings, which happens once in every 5-6 weeks on Sunday mornings in our centre in Prague 5 - Jinonice.
- There must not be any bad habits that are learned (climbing on the bed, on the table, stealing food from the table, annoying while people are eating,
destroying the interior home, jumping on people, barking ...).
- • There must not be any hunting urges or reflexes in the pup.
What can we offer?
Each month, the puppywalker will receive 15 kilograms of granulated food, with which he or she is required to feed the puppy. Also we give him a monthly amount of 1,000 CZK, which is then added on to the bank account after the end of each calendar month. From this money that they receive, comes the basic veterinary prevention (vaccinations, getting rid of flees, getting rid of ticks), cynological needs, transportation needs and other actions that come with the care of one of our puppies. Veterinary treatment in case of sickness of the puppy is accounted for later after presenting the bill from the veterinary office and with clear documentation of the dogs name and the type of treatment. There is a consultation and if it is necessary, there are extra training hours.
